Therapy for an Engaged Life
In more than 44 years as a therapist, I have collaborated with people suffering from a wide variety of often difficult, painful and challenging issues. Low self-esteem, depression, fears of all kinds, loneliness, relationship problems, and history of abuse are just a few of the issues we have confronted. Many individuals also come looking for help in moving forward in their lives toward a greater sense of well being, self awareness, competence, and more rewarding relationships.
It is important to address the difficult issues we face with respect and courage. At the same time, as these difficult experiences begin to be healed, we need to turn toward “creating” our positive future self. Negative emotions, thoughts and behaviors can be changed, with commitment and perseverance, into hope, positive self-esteem, an increased sense of competence, healthy and loving relationships, and a deepening feeling of positive and successful engagement in the world.

I have been incredibly blessed to work with the most amazing people. The “work” of therapy with me is actually as much about having fun, building on strengths and positivity as it is about problem solving. My aim is to help each person that chooses to work with me make a turn in their life toward greater, authentic positive feeling and thinking as well as personal competence. Sadly, I have often heard people say that they don’t want to be in therapy because it means that they are “crazy”. Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. To be willing to face your challenges head on and be ready to co-create a better life with a qualified therapist is the best example of sanity and mental health.
